The Power of Prayer Volume 4, Issue 10 December 2008 |
|
Dear Friends of the Ministry, What a wonderful God we serve! It is great to come to you again in
the month of December, this month that we celebrate the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It might seem that all is lost with all the
troubles the world is facing right now, and that there's no end in sight. Well there is some good news for you, my friend.
Hard times like these are when the love of God shines the brightest of all. In all our hills and valleys, God comes to us when we most
need Him. Rest assured, He is watching, and waiting to bless you in the midst of your greatest need. Be sure and read A Word from the Pastor: The Power of Prayer below for a blessed word on this.
Blessings and Joy: Touching the Lives of Children As evidence of those blessings in the midst of great need (for we
have been in great need all year here at Crossroads), we praise God to be able to bring you this news: Thanks to God's help in putting
your gracious support to work, we've joined Wal-Mart Distribution Center in their annual toy drive for kids in foster care. Through this
partnership and with your help, this Christmas we are helping to give 200 foster children a brand new toy and hopefully, a smile.
As many of you are aware, having been a foster child myself in my young life and with my own children having been in care at one
point in the past, this is a cause near and dear to my heart. These children so need the love and joy that a kind gesture like this brings and programs like this are truly
the Lord at work. You and I are so blessed to be a part of it. We hope to continue this partnership next year and maybe be able to touch even more little lives through it then.
Special Guest Speaker: Pastor Sean Warren December 7th at 7:30p.m.
We are so excited to have Pastor Sean Warren of Indianola Church of Christ come and share an inspirational word with us! On December 7, 2008 at
7:30p.m., please join us to share in a wonderful time in the Lord. Once you've received the Word delivered by this amazing messenger of God, you'll be so glad you did!
Please Remember Crossroads in Your Holiday Giving
Thank you for your support this year in spite of the tough times. As we've clearly seen, with God's help and with us working together, we can continue to make a difference in lives,
delivering hope to those who may otherwise have none. Please remember Crossroads WCC in your year end giving. We really need your support this holiday season,as always, but
especially in light of the current economic conditions. Many need our help at this time, so please
sow your seed today.
Working together in the Lord's name, we will continue to touch the hearts and minds of those who need God's message of love and hope. You can use a credit or debit card to securely give your gift online
, or you can mail a check to us at Crossroads World Christian Center Church, 1084 Brentnell Ave., Columbus, OH 43219. Thank You
We want to thank some of our friends of the ministry that came from out of town to visit us here at Crossroads World Christian
Center Church. Recently we've had joyous visits with Joey and Gary Clark from Franklin, Tennessee and from Chris Jorgensen,
who came up from all the way down in Florida to visit. We were so excited to see them and fellowship together in the
knowledge of what God is doing here. Thank you for visiting, we hope to see you again soon! |

Word from the Pastor The Power of Prayer And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be
glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. ~John 14:13-14 How many of us know we have a prayer-answering God, know that our God desires to
give you what your heart desires? During this time of year it is easy to forget what the reason of the season is all about with all our wants and being so caught up in our
needs. We spend way too much time in worries about the things we want to give and the thought of not having enough money to do that and get the necessities, too. God
hears your prayers and he's got it covered. Your job is to leave it with Him and focus on the things you should be focused on – which doesn't include worry or fear!
When I was a little child and in a childrens home, a prayer I shot up one day came true, and it came around Christmas. A couple came and took me and 3 of my siblings
in to be a part of their family, though their family was already unlike my biological family in any way. With 12 kids already,
their noses did not look like mine, their eyes did not look like mine, and even their skin was not the same color as mine…but
the love they had in their heart to look at me and say, "You are coming home with me son, to stay," I will hold in my heart as a treasured answer to a prayer, always.
I can remember getting ready to leave the childrens home and how they gave a gift to a child before they left. I should
remember because I had been in the gift closet a lot, and there was one thing that caught my eye. That was a car blanket,
and that's what I wanted so badly. I remember leaving with my gift, but it was not the car blanket, it was a shoe piggy bank. I
told my new dad about this and he told my new mom. She picked me up and said, "Well, if you go and ask Jesus in your
prayers, you might get one." So I did that, but the funniest thing happened. I forgot about it.
There were so many things to do at our new house that I forgot about the car blanket. Christmas came for us and was the best.
There were toys everywhere and it was time to open up all the presents. Dad handed out the gifts as we wanted for that
particular person to open up, one at a time to stretch out the joy and anticipation of it all. The gift in the corner was one of the
biggest presents under the tree, and suddenly, dad called my name. I stepped up and he handed it to me. With a big smile on
my face and excitement in my eyes, I ripped into the wrapping, and when I saw what it was there, the air left my lungs, as the
paper revealed a car blanket that I forgot that I'd even asked for and prayed about. That blanket, like a family, never came exactly when I wanted it. Instead, it came when God knew I needed it most, and just at the
right time for healing. I know about not having enough, and still occasionally go through that myself today, especially in trying to
maintain God's church. But what I learned through God's grace to me in that experience will stay with me for the rest of my life.
This Christmas, I vow to pass on to my children (like I did with my car blanket) and hopefully to you, the advice to pray, and to KNOW that
there is POWER in that prayer. We do have a prayer-answering God. I know it firsthand. I hope you do too. If you're still reading, this word was definitely
meant for you. Whether you're rich or poor right now, among many other reasons, you are rich
in the blessings of the Lord, being able to receive this word. Know this, and act on it for the greater good.
This holiday season and beyond, spread the love, joy and hope of Jesus Christ and have faith in the amazing power of prayer
over your life, as well as the lives of others. You may just give someone the greatest gift humanly possible, one that resonates
within them in an eternal way. Have a wonderful and Merry Christmas! May God Richly Bless You and Yours Always, Pastor Cory P. Pariseau
