News Hello Friends of the Ministry
partners! We are here in May 2007 and already the flowers are blooming, the trees are budding, and the new leaves will soon appear. God is blessing us here at Crossroads World Christian Center Church and we want to thank you, our partners, for sharing in the vision that we my touch those hurting lives for His kingdom. Please keep praying for us and sending your love gifts as you can to keep us marching towards
the vision.
Due to many requests for transportation, the church is in need of van or small bus
to provide transportaion services for congregation members to weekly services and for field trips. We often get mail asking if we have transportation so we can pick people up. We wanted to let everyone know that we have been looking into vans and small buses for the church's transportation needs and will try and get a transportation solution as quickly as God allows for it.
Please pray with us
that God will provide this need for the church so that we can get more souls into the weekly services! Also, if any of our newsletter readers might have a multi-seat van or small bus in good working order that you no longer need and are in Ohio (or could get it to Ohio), we would be grateful if you'd find it in your heart to donate it for God's work! We are a 501c3 non-profit organization and all
donations are tax deductible.

This ministry is picking up lots of support now in the community. Members have been asked to speak at several engagements and the networking opportunities could only have been delivered by the Lord himself. The weekly meetings are held on Thursdays at 12:00 noon. If you've been involved with the Childrens Services system or would like to become an active part in this ministry that God has anointed, please come and join us for refreshments and a time for support, healing and guidance. Some of the events we have been or will be participating in on behalf of Parenting Pathways are below, please see the
events page for more info on any of these events...
I was blessed to conduct a workshop this past week at the City Vision Conference May 4th
& 5th at the Upper Arlington Luther Church in Hillard, Ohio entitled Supporting Families With Children in Protective Services.
On behalf of Parenting Pathways, I've also been invited to be the keynote speaker at the Fayette County Foster Care Appreciation Banquet on May 19, 2007 at the Heritage Memorial Church parish hall
in Fayette County, Ohio. I was invited to be on the planning committee for the Prevent Child Abuse Ohio
Conference
this year, which I did participate in. We had the conference on April 26, 2007 here in Columbus, Ohio and what a conference it was! While I was there I got to meet incredible human beings, and the keynote speaker was actor Victor Rivers. You might have seen Victor in countless movies, like the Mask of Zorro, Blood In Blood Out, and my personnel favorite, The Distinguished Gentleman starring Eddie Murphy. Meeting and talking to Mr. Rivers was a true blessing in this young pastor's life. He shared about his experiences as a former abused child. Even though his abuse was unspeakably bad, he said what was worst for him was seeing his family getting abused. It was very enlightening and very moving. Now a spokesperson for the National Network to End Domestic Violence, Victor Rivers wrote an incredible book about his life called A Private Family Matter. This is a MUST read for ALL and I strongly recommend that all fathers buy one for your teen sons. The Pain is real; The Hope is real; with faith and love of a community, Victor Rivers wrote this incredible true inspiring story please visit his website at
www.victorrivers.com. A Word from the Pastor Words: A Life Confession
Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that Love it shall eat the fruit thereof. ~Proverbs 18: 21God lays
words on my heart so sweet it is hard to form them into words sometimes. It is so soothing to my soul! God spoke a word and there was light! There was life all from a spoken word from God's mouth! Powerful
words created life here on earth in the image of Our God. I have come to learn that words are very powerful even before I came to be in God's service. As a young boy, I must have been called
every name in the book…dumb, stunted, retarded, etc. One day I came home crying to my mother because a boy called me the N word. I was devastated and hurt to my core. As I got to become a young man out in
the world doing worldly things, I learned how to use words to get the things I wanted and eventually learned to use them to hurt others, too. At that time in my thinking, I thought, "They are just words,"
but I never knew the damage that they caused, until later, when you can't take the hurtful words back. With words, Adolf Hitler took a nation and brain washed it to do his will upon the earth,
killing millions of people who were not like him and convincing many others to do the same. Martin Luther King changed a nation's thinking with his words of love and nonviolent protest and set a
people to dreaming of a nation that would provide equal opportunities to all of it's peoples…a dream that's a reality today. As you can see from those examples, words are very powerful, but
sometimes in our everyday lives we don't realize the impact they can have.
Studies have shown that in the average home, for every positive statement, a child receives 10 negative statements. The school environment is only slightly better; students hear seven negative statements from most teachers for every one positive statement. No wonder so many children are growing up feeling unprepared to take on the world!
These studies go on to point out that it takes four positive statements to counter the effect of one negative statement
. I'd like to point out that this advice is not only good for children.
We, as adults, can really make a positive impact in our walk with God on the lives of other adults using this info, too. Today in my life, my children come up to me and tell me the words
that kids sling at them at school. I can feel my blood start to boil at first...but after seeking God's guidance, I sit them down and teach them how to protect themselves from those hurtful words and how to
receive the God given Word instead. In fact we teach this in our CrossKidz youth enrichment class. It goes like this:This is Gods Confession Over Me…
I am Somebody! Romans 8 declares unto me that I am a child of God. I am MORE then a Conqueror through Christ, who loves me. If God be before me who can be against me?
I am blessed coming In, I am blessed going out. I am the head and not the tail. I am above and not beneath. I am the lender and not the borrower.
As I teach it to the children, these blessing are steadily overtaking me daily… May God Richly Bless You and Yours Always, Pastor Cory P. Pariseau
