A Word from the Pastor Discouragement of a Seeking Heart Based on
Acts 8:25-39 and Acts 9:10-18.
It is easy to get discouraged when your heart is out to seek what is right and do right,
but sometimes you get led astray. Maybe someone has said something or done something to discourage you for what God has intended for you all along. Today, I'd
like for us to take a look at what happened to some of the saints when they chose to have an over-comer's spirit and a heart for God.
God is looking for broken hearts to heal, looking to make new those hearts that are seeking after him, hearts that want to do the will of our heavenly father. It seems to
me that Ananias had such a heart. Ananias wanted to do the will of God when prompted to. I like that fact that Ananias was a disciple. It says that he was a convert,
a born again disciple of Jesus Christ. Ananias was a spiritual member of the body of Jesus Christ. This is how we need to be born again, baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost.
I love the fact that it say that disciple means learner follower. If we learn to follow that still small voice of our Heavenly Father and be
disciples by it, what a wonderful relationship we would have with our heavenly father! To be more used by him when he calls upon our
name is such a blessing. Ananias, who was only spoken of in The Bible a few times, brought one of the most talked about persons that
did wonders for the body of Christ, Paul. Saul's conversion and discipleship into the body of Christ transformed evangelism and planting
of churches. To know God will use the lows of the low in people, the most ordinary of people, to get his love across to all of us, is
amazing. He loves us so much that he sent his only son to die on the cross for you and for me.
How wonderful it is to read the Word of God and see the people that went before us to learn how evangelism was done. Next, we'll take a
look at Philip. Even though we have a more of an opportunity to reach the world with the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, doing it
and doing it well, as Philip did in his life time, lets us be a part of doing evangelism right. Philip was not just effective to large crowds, but he was effective even with just one in the desert. Reading
how Philip had not just a relationship with our Heavenly Father - but he was so close to him that he could
hear his voice - that Philip was absolutely there for God when he called him. Philip was full of goodness,
wisdom, obedience, enthusiasm, God's holy Word and the Holy Spirit. He was full of Jesus Christ.
I love the fact that Philip was an over-comer of discouragement. In any type of ministry work, it's easy to get
discouraged with all that is going on around you. Sometimes we find out the hard way, but if we rest in His
Word as Philip did and have the mind to pray and ask all the right questions to our Heavenly Father
(instead of the wrong questions), I believe our evangelism ministry will be as successful as Philips was. Hold
on to the full Gospel of Jesus Christ to be filled with the Holy Spirit that will guild you and strengthen you. May God Richly Bless You and Yours Always,
Pastor Cory P. Pariseau |
